After overcoming my breast cancer diagnosis with a primary focus on holistic health practices, I knew there was more for me in this lifetime. There was this deep calling within my body to step outside of my comfort zone and do more. I knew that I wanted to invest in myself to expand my knowledge on how I could not only improve my own life but step into the role of serving others to transform and become the best version of themselves as well.
This led me to enrolling with The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in the fall of 2020 where I completed my certification in September of 2021. Studying at IIN completely changed my life! Not only did I learn a ton about nutrition and health, but I also gained valuable skills in coaching and communication that have helped me in all areas of my life.
In addition to expanding my own mind and bringing in more healing modalities, it led me to listen to my intuition and created my transformational coaching practice, Grounded in Health.
MY EXPERIENCE
Because I was working a full time corporate job, I chose to take the twelve month program. It never felt forced, it was something I was excited for each week. I got to listen and learn from individuals at the top of their field such as Deepak Chopra, Dr. Mark Hyman, David Avocado Wolfe, Robin Berzin, Vani Hari (The Food Babe), Dr. Andrew Weil, Mastin Kipp and many more individuals within the health and wellness profession.
One of the things I loved about the program was the flexibility. You can complete the coursework online at your own pace, it’s flexible enough to fit into basically anyones schedules. Plus there are live events and webinars throughout the year that you can attend in person or online. The program also includes access to a huge online library of resources, including recipes, articles, and videos.
But perhaps the best part of the program is the community. I connected with many like-minded souls and made friendships that I will have for the rest of my life, with people around the world who are also passionate about health and wellness. There are discussion forums, social media groups, and even an annual conference where you can meet other health coaches and learn from experts in the field.
I was also one of the recipients to win the Leadership in Health Coaching Award for our class! It was such an honour to be recognized for my accomplishments and doing outstanding work in my field.
To this day, I am still incorporating many of the practices and tools that I learned from IIN into my business and coaching practice.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A HEALTH COACH?
An Integrative Nutrition Health Coach is a guide and mentor who empowers their clients to take responsibility for her own health and supports them to implement and sustain lifestyle, dietary and behavioural changes that will contribute to the achievement of their personal goals all while holding you accountable.
We show up and assist our clients in implementing sustainable and healthy lifestyle changes while providing you with necessary resources that you may need within your own wellness journey to succeed and be seen. We work side by side with our clients to help them achieve their personal goals and hold them accountable to their actions.
For me, this means holding a safe space for my clients to be heard and seen for who they are and where they are, in this moment of time. I believe in bio-individuality and a client-led approach on what health and lifestyle choices will work best for each individual. Many times, this involves starting with the basics, building up the foundations of our body, and growing from there. The greatest part of this job watching my clients grow, flourish and step into their true essence all while feeling their best!

IIN focuses on foolproof ways to help build your business while also taking care of yourself. Once you complete this course, you are able to further your education by taking IIN's Advanced Courses.
